Art Direction Brand Extension Editorial Strategy Video Website

Hi Fly is the biggest Portuguese private airline company specialising on Wet Lease and Charter services, operating worldwide. With a 20+ aircraft fleet, Hi Fly needed an updated, technologically pioneering site that allowed them to have a unique and memorable positioning at the Wet Lease worldwide market. The website core should thoroughly present each and every aircraft number plate available on their fleet in — you guessed it — each and every possible detail: not just the full technical specifications but also photographic and video overviews so that the clients know the precise condition of each airliner.

3D or 4D? Yeah, 3D.

From the get-go, 3D was the inescapable weapon of choice for the models visualisation. 
You see, we could never get access to the aircrafts themselves for more than a few hours and we needed full control over the seamless transition flights between sections. This allied to the functionality of aircraft livery customisation, a custom service Hi Fly also offers, dictated the choice for us — not that that was a bad thing.

Blender 3D was the choice for modeling the aircrafts.

O Captain! My Captain! Wow me.

Each aircraft had to have a single section with all the necessary details.  Also, each aircraft needed a dedicated page with a clear distribution of specifications, video, and photography. The Home would be reserved for the shiny Airbus A380 with an obvious and direct way to pick and choose between the rest of the fleet. One hover and a click would equal to one wow, that was the thought.

Technology

If you run the website on an older machine the code does some digging and checks what it can handle. Depending on the machine specs and connection, you can be served a high/low 3D version or, if you need a serious hardware update or have a limited connection, you will get a 2D only version of the website. Cool, hey? Are you still with me on this? Hello?

Art Direction

Each aircraft had to be carefully filmed and photographed. Logistic-wise, this was a critical point to overcome. The website development actually took less time (we counted) than the photo and video sessions which were shot over multiple locations like Lisbon, Beja, Malta, and Istambul.  Actually, that is still a work in progress with the new fleet acquisitions.
